There is no anesthetic procedure that is too challenging for Ashley, Registered Veterinary Technician surgery queen!! Ashley has always been extremely passionate about taking care of animals and knew a career in Veterinary Medicine would be fulfilling for her. Branching out to Purdue University in her home state, Ashley first earned a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology. With this degree came the unique experience and training with exotic species at zoos and rehabilitation centers. After moving to Ohio in 2016 with her husband, Geordan, Ashley pursued licensing as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT). She attended Bradford School and became licensed after completing her Associates of Applied Science degree in 2018. Ashley has worked with many small animal practices since graduating and absolutely loves what she gets to do each and every single day in her work life.
Ashley & Geordan have two beautiful daughters and a pack full of rescue pets! They share their home with two older pooches, Dutches (lab/pit mix) & Oreo (lab mix), as well as two kitties, Jelly & Marmalade. She reflects back on all of the pets she’s cared for her life including snakes, geckos, red eyes tree frogs, bearded dragons, iguana, rabbit, hedgehog, and ferrets. Being an RVT can be stressful – Ashley has all of the tools in place to keep herself at the prime of her career. She enjoys family time, reading, watching movies and just simply spending time outdoors. If you are ever looking to scuba dive, Ashley also holds a padi open Water Scuba driver’s license!
Coming on board to AHSH has allowed Ashley to develop better relationships with her patients and clients and has enabled her to use her knowledge to educate clients to the best of her ability. Her short-term and long-term career goals are to improve her skills and continue to learn and grow as an RVT. She desires to be well rounded in all aspects of her job and to be able to educate clients on providing only the best care for their pets. With a passion for surgery patient care, Ashley would love to earn her Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in either dentistry or anesthesia. She looks forward to be able to connect with her patients and to make them feel safe while in her care. Ashley also enjoys learning about low stress handling to decrease fear and anxiety with AHSH patients in her care.
Ashley is a chameleon of sorts – being able to adapt and adjust in difficult situations is something she thrives on. She has learned through working with large animals, small animals and exotic patients which requires a keen ability to think outside of the box to get a procedure safely and seamlessly complete. Ashley looks forward to providing the best care to AHSH clients and to be able to connect with patients and clients on a personal level.
