How do you define a military trained, highly educated, taekwondo expert, veterinary patient care coordinator who thrives on birding in the great outdoors and pumping iron? Chris, of course! Born in Gunma, Japan, and formally known as “Toshi Christopher“, his parents and three younger sisters settled down in Dublin. He was active in the community as a Boy Scout, graduated from Dublin Coffman High School and shortly thereafter, left for basic training in the US Army. His training and travels have introduced him to a world of new people, life lessons and a love for animals that have shaped the person he is today.
Chris is a Veteran of 8 years with the US ARMY. He obtained his military occupational specialty of an MP (military police) and served in a combat support unit as well as an escort and guard unit. Chris has had his fair share of challenges: having deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. His service gives him a great sense of pride in our country. He’s had to arrest a villain or two…. so, not to worry, your pets are safe with us. His passion for the outdoors, its inhabitants and all things wild has led him to pursue a degree in Forestry, Fisheries and Wildlife at the Ohio State University. In his off-time, he is working to aid local wildlife and gain experience by volunteering at the Ohio Wildlife Center and the Grange Insurance Audubon Center in Columbus.
Family, his wife Rachel, country and the integrity of our planet are most important to Chris. He has always had an interest in the veterinary field and is pleased to be able to explore career possibilities. He takes pride in joining a team of experts at the Animal Hospital of Shawnee Hills who are working to save the lives of animals. His goal is to provide the best service for all the patients and their families who come into the hospital. Chris looks forward to building strong relationships with all of the families and their pets. Best put by one of our clients, “Chris is the salt of the earth!”
