Terri (aka Teresa) graduated from The Ohio State University in 2009 with her Master’s in Veterinary Public Health after receiving her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Mount Union. Pursuing her long-time love for animals, she started vet assisting during college breaks near her hometown of Newcomerstown, Ohio. She learned additional hands-on animal care skills of various species as an animal caretaker in the Mount Union Biology department. During graduate school at OSU, she met Dr. Bookmyer and was employed at her previous practice as a kennel worker. Terri jumped at a position at the front desk and then transitioned careers to teaching Human Anatomy & Physiology at the college level. She and her husband, Mark, decided to settle down in Columbus and Terri began her career as an Practice Manager at AHSH.

On her way to becoming a crazy cat lady, Terri & Mark share their home with 2 fat cats, Nellie & Divot. Terri enjoys playing piano and has a special interest in music therapy for animals. She would like to someday become certified in alternative therapies for pets as an added therapeutic service when she does in-home pet sitting. Terri plans to earn her certification as a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager in the coming years. She attributes her ‘ready to serve’ nature to her faith in God and from the example of her hard-working parents. To relax, Terri loves unwinding with a good movie, a glass of wine by the fire and will never turn down the chance to spend time sitting outdoors, taking in the smells and sounds of nature.

AHSH is an absolute dream come true for Terri. Raised in a small-town with one traffic light, she never thought she would find that same “small-town atmosphere’ in Columbus, but has found that vibe in Shawnee Hills. In her own words, “our clients are unique here at AHSH – from plastic surgeons and lawyers, to stay-at-home-moms, retirees and farmers, we have the perfect blend of humor and honesty that I have never experienced at any other veterinary hospital – we are truly blessed.” Terri and her husband have built their first home together in the village. She looks forward to work everyday as the AHSH team (including Garry), clients & pets have become like family!
