International Health Certificates for Pet Travel
Planning a trip or a move overseas? We can help!
Traveling with pets to a foreign country is a complicated process – every country has different requirements for import of pets, some of which may need to be taken care of months in advance.
Depending on the destination, international pet travel requirements may include, but not be limited to:
- Microchipping of pet PRIOR to any other vaccines or treatments required
- One or more Rabies or other vaccines given after the microchip, at specific timing prior to travel
- Lab testing to prove immunity levels are sufficient, at specific timing prior to travel
- Lab testing to prove negative parasite status, at specific timing prior to travel
- Treatment for parasites at specific timing prior to travel (regardless of infection status)
Most countries then require an examination immediately prior to travel, usually within 10 days of your flight. At this appointment we will submit the necessary documents to the USDA for endorsement. Your endorsed International Health Certificate and any associated documents are then shipped to you from the USDA, to accompany your pet at the time of travel.
